Press Releases
107th Annual General Meeting
24th November 2006
Commenting on trading during 2005/2006 Tim Melville-Ross, Chairman, Manganese Bronze, stated:
“I am pleased to report that UK taxi sales in the first quarter are ahead of the first quarter last year. The TX 4, the most technologically advanced purpose built taxi we have produced, was launched 18th October and has been very well received by customers and the taxi trade press. Mann & Overton, our taxi retailer in London, opened new, larger premises on Brewery Road on 6th November. These premises are far better able to meet the increasing needs of the London taxi trade.
“We were delighted to announce that we have finalised terms with Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd for a joint venture which will produce a range of vehicles including the London taxi in Shanghai. In due course, we will be distributing a circular to shareholders in preparation for an Extraordinary General Meeting, which is planned for January 2007.
“Looking ahead, taxi sales for the year as a whole will depend on market acceptance of the TX 4 and additional demand generated by the introduction of new emissions regulations in London.”
